A Sensitive Skin Girly Who’s Tried It All - Figgi Beauty Review

Figgi Beauty recently sent me four of their products to try: the Balm to Oil Cleanser, the Gentle Gel Cleanser, the Day Cream and the Evening Cream. Figgi is a female-founded brand by Jeanne Retief, and one of her quotes really stood out to me: “We all deserve to celebrate the goddess within.”

The products arrived really quickly, which is always a bonus, and the packaging is simply beautiful, glossy, luxurious, and finished with spot UV on the logo. I know some people don’t care too much about packaging, but as someone who runs my own printed magazine, I can’t help but appreciate good design. In fact, I’m one of those strange people who likes to keep the boxes and put the products back in them after each use, just to get that little bit of joy every time I open them again. Anyway… let’s get into it.

Removing my makeup can be such a painful process with my sensitive skin

The main focus of the package for me was their Balm to Oil Cleanser, which is designed to dissolve makeup and is suitable for dry and sensitive skin.

I have extremely sensitive skin. By that, I don’t just mean it gets a little red, I mean my skin reacts badly to so many products, even those specifically marketed for sensitive skin. My face can flare up for hours, turning red, hot, itchy, and sometimes even breaking. Cleansers, in particular, have been a nightmare for me, micellar waters sting my eyes and leave them puffy, while other cleansers can blur my vision with a cloudy coating.

So, I’ll admit I was very sceptical when I first tried Figgi’s Balm to Oil Cleanser. To my complete surprise, it was incredible. No redness, no burning, no cloudy eyes, absolutely no irritation at all and that is rare for me. Even around my eyes, where I usually get the worst reactions for stinking sensations, it was so gentle. When you first apply it, the texture feels quite thick and as it melts away your makeup, it can feel a little greasy on the skin. At that moment, I did have a small panic thinking, “Oh no, this is going to clog my skin.” But as soon as you rinse it off, whether with a warm, damp towel or just at the sink, that greasiness completely disappears. It’s simply the balm doing its job and reacting with your makeup. Once it’s rinsed away, you’re left with soft, clean skin and none of that heavy feeling at all.

The cleanser melted away my makeup effortlessly, and my face was completely clean afterwards. My skin felt soft, smooth, and comfortable, not tight or stripped like it usually does after cleansing.

This product alone is a 10/10 for me. Honestly, finding a cleanser that doesn’t upset my skin feels like a small miracle.

After the Balm to Oil Cleanser, I followed with the Gentle Gel Cleanser, as Figgi recommends a two-step cleansing routine. To be honest, the first cleanser did such a fantastic job that I wasn’t sure how much the second cleanser was really adding – but I know that double cleansing is the best way to make sure every bit of grime and makeup is gone.

Again, no irritation, no tightness, and my skin felt super clean but still comfortable.

Evening Cream

I finished my routine with Figgi’s Evening Cream. It’s rich and nourishing, and I quickly realised you don’t need much at all. I definitely applied too much on my first go, so my neck ended up getting a good dose of hydration too! It glides on beautifully and left my skin feeling hydrated and soft. When I woke up in the morning, my skin still felt smooth and moisturised.

Day Cream

The next morning, I tried out the Day Cream, which felt like a light, hydrating coat over my face,  perfect under makeup or just on its own. It wasn’t greasy, absorbed well, and kept my skin feeling comfortable throughout the day.

My Final Thoughts

All four products completely exceeded my expectations. I came into this with a closed mind, convinced that my skin would react like it usually does. Instead, I was completely blown away, no irritation, no allergic reactions, nothing. Just soft, happy skin. The Balm to Oil Cleanser is now an absolute favourite for me, I’ve finally found something that actually works for my sensitive skin without the usual sting, puffiness, or redness. And that is honestly life-changing.
